Hi new member here from Holly springs .I just got a used boat a few weeks back and have hit the lake a few times fishing already . Not having much luck . Caught a few brim one small bass and a cat . I was raised brim or crappy fishing using a bobber or fishing suspended but I'm trying to learn to bass fish . Also trying to find where to fish on Allatoona . My 8 year old is growing weary quickly . He caught a couple the first time out and none since then . So for his sake I would like to find a good spot to catch anything just to keep him interested . Any help is appreciated . Oh also I have heard that the point is a good place to bass fish but I don't know where the point is . BTW I put is at the little river ramp . Sorry for the rambling was out late fishing last night . Thanks

Good to have you here and hope you find what your looking for. As far as a specific place to fish on Allatoona to be guaranteed to catch some bass, that's a question we would all like to have answered. You really need to learn the entire lake and the different lake terrains and then adjust your fishing to the seasonal patterns. At this time of year I generally start with a bluff wall and then target deep brush piles next. For your 8 year old put a live worm or cricket under a bobber and throw close to any rocky bank and you should catch some bream. As far as the point when people around here say "The Point" they are referring to Lake West Point near La Grange and the Alabama line on I-85 south. But if they say "a point" then that is anywhere on a lake where the shoreline comes out to a point and continues into the water while it slopes into deeper water. Hope this helps.
