Had a good morning today.. I hit the weather and the pre spawn timing perfect this am. The warming trend brought some of the fish up and the approaching front made them active.. When the front got closer they shut down but it was a good bite early. There's a 6lber hidden in my left hand behind the 7lber I got robbed on (8lb head 6lb body) and the other fish there. I got other pics showing the other fish but this pic will do. It's going to be a good day anytime you get a dozen bites on the 9" Bull Shad.

Nice job Mike!! I can't wait until I understand bass fishing enough to target bass that size. I'm slowly getting there. In this past year my biggest 3 fish from Allatoona all were 3 and a half pound spotted bass. I am still in the process of targeting the Largemouth in Allatoona. I can't wait for my first Bucket mouth from out of Allatoona.

Frank, That is outstanding. Love seeing your enthusiasm. There are some giant largemouth in Allatoona. They aren't easy but the time is NOW to catch them.. Good luck buddy..

Thanks!! I'm trying by best. I have a few places in mind that will hold these largemouths but its a matter of when they hold in these places. I just got to keep at it.

That is incredible!
Obviously the fish are attacking the big swim bait! Wish I could somehow find a way to even get 1 bite on mine! LoL
I've got to be doing something wrong...

P. S. That doesn't look like Toona with how far that opposite shoreline is... You always make us guess yet never tell!!

Haha yeah, for all we know he could be fishing Guntersville But if there really is some good ones on Allatoona this would be the small opportunity to have a chance for a big bucket mouth.. At least for Allatoona Standards. The problem is locating these. It is the mystery for sure.

YOu fish for them where they spawn so thats the easy part.. Finding one that wants to chew is the bigger task at hand. Make no mistake about it we have some good Largemouths. I've got 2 9's a few 8's and tons of 5's and 6's. They are there just not in big quantities.. I'll say this. If you catch a big largemouth or spot on Toona thats an accomplishment.. Catching one on Lanier or say Wedowee or West Point is easy in comparison IMHO..

Ok thanks. Well the first steps is finding where they like to spawn. I'll be covering some water the next few times I make it out there.

Bad thing is that the lake must have been much better for Heads many years ago. Record Head there is 16lb 9oz in 1982! I think the record spot is 7lb 11oz in 1974. Thats a big spot for sure.
