This is our annual 2 day event. This year we are fishing out of Goosepond Colony, near Scottsboro, AL. If you haven't fished one of our tournaments and would like to fish this one as a guest we need to have your entry fee by the end of the meeting on Wednesday night. We ended up with an extra cabin that we paid the deposit on and cannot get it back. It will sleep five people (+). $225/night for the 18th and 19th if you are interested. We actually need to have 4 more people (have one already) and that would be $90/person for the weekend. We are planning a cookout Saturday night whereby you bring/make your favorite backyard dish and we just kick back and enjoy the evening. The tournament will be safe light to 3:30PM on Saturday and safelight to 1:30PM on Sunday. Total combined 2 day weight and biggest bass of the two days for the money (and the points for the club members). For guest, the entry fee is $25 ($5 to big bass and $20 to the 1-5 payback) We meet at the Center Street Tavern and Grill in old town Acworth. You are welcome to fish one tournament as a guest, but you must be signed up, like all the members, by the close of business at the Wednesday night Meeting, Oct 16, 2013, this week. I guess the old adage, "Better late than Never" is appropriate here. I've been a tad bit busy since we finished this event and apologize for not providing the results sooner. We fished the tournament on October 19th and 20th out the Goose Pond Colony Boat ramp. There were a total 12 members fishing and only 17 fish weighed in. Big Bass was a 4.33lb. Guntersville was not very generous to us this time. Saturday was pre-frontal and windy with water temps ranging from the upper sixties to the lower seventies. Sunday morning was post frontal and downright chilly with about a 5 degree drop in surface temps over night. Tough conditions for the club no doubt. On Saturday Tom and I watched a local tournament angler just putting one fish in the livewell after another and culling multiple times but we couldn't tap into his secret and capitalize. At least we were in an area that was producing good fish for someone, not us though! Ken Heinrich won our last event with 2 fish for 6.11lbs and Big Bass at 4.33lbs Goff McMahon had 2nd with 2 fish for 5.29lbs Barry Martin had 3rd with 3 fish for 5.13lbs and Jake Akin had 4th with 4 fish for 4.47lbs. Eric Fischer caught enough fish on Sunday to secure the Angler of the Year 2013. All in all in was a great weekend especially on Saturday evening when we grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and watch my Aggies get beat on TV. The Cast-A-Way Bass Club guys are blast to hang out with and I look forward to the next season!
