Hopefully the rain and warmer temps will thaw the Chick out before next weekend. The lake is at about 676 MSL which is really low. That makes Chester Frost almost dangerous especially for the boats that need more depth to launch. Today the ramp is surrounded by a huge ice field from the reports. That ice is at least 1/2" Thick. They also said that Harris Bay marina and cove is iced in and there is ice all around the islands. I expect that to be gone by next weekend. We may switch to the ramp at the dam. I will let everyone know as soon as we decide. See ya'll on Wednesday Night at the Center Street Tavern and Grill, in Old Town Acworth!

I reckon for a February day it certainly could've been colder considering a week ago many parts of the lake was covered with ice. I started around 30 this morning and ended up in the upper 40s, not much wind, and a lake temperature that ranged from 39 to 42 from what I saw. The clarity in Dallas Bay (Chester Frost) was the best that Wally and I saw anywhere on the lake with visibility of about 1 1/2' in the back. The main lake ranged from dingy to muddy. We had 23 members fishing (24 signed up and one had a last minute work commitment come up). Of those 23 who fished only 7 folks weighed fish. There were no limits and the Calcutta Pot survived another event! Here are the money spots: 5th place went to Jake Akin with 1 fish for 3.75lbs, he won $48 4th place was Paul "Coach" Bagby with 2 fish for 5.50lbs and $72 3rd place was Mike Cronin with 1 fish for 5.70lbs, also won the Big Bass pot for $120, 3rd netted him $96 2nd place went to Ken Heinrich with 2 fish for 5.82lbs and $120 A well deserved 1st place went to Stan Knowles with 3 fish for 11.03lbs and $144. Congrats to all the money winners, and to Keith Ridenhour and Marc Lockwood for weighing fish on a very tough fishing day! See you guys next month for the meeting and Lake Wedowee!
