This much I can tell you, Georgia Power is taking it seriously. They have manned up North Georgia as though 2 disasters have hit on top of each other. I finally got to a hotel after starting at 5:30 this morning. And tomorrow will probably be even a longer day. Warm your home up a little more than usual and keep your doors closed. You might need every edge possible if we get the 1/2 inch of ice they are predicting.

After the 1993 Blizzard I installed Propane burning heaters in strategic places in the house. Bedroom, living room, and 1 in the basement den. It sure has helped with the peace of mind factor. A small generator will run the fridge, water heater, a few lighting circuits. We lose power out here a lot (lots of trees) and with a little preparation and very few bucks you can do OK for a week or so.
Those folks that go out in absolutely dangerous weather to make my light switch work are real hero's in my opinion. My gratitude and utmost respect to the men and women that make the lights stay on and the hot air flow.

Cannot praise the folks enough who are sent out into these conditions to restore power. Also praise our law enforcement, firefighters, emergency workers who have to brave these conditions as well.

If you want to check the outages that Georgia Power has at this time, even the status of your own outage go to this website: www.georgiapower.com/storm

Another day is over for me. Just got to a hotel. Hope you have lights, but if not, stay wrapped up in a good blanket. And hopefully we will have you back on tomorrow.

I am here to tell you that I was able to get around quicker yesterday during the height of the storm, than what I did today with all the sightseers. Why can't people just stay home and let us get this job done?
