April 9th, Wednesday is a our meeting then the tournament is on Lake Westpoint at Highland Marina and Resort on Saturday April 12, 2014. If you want to come and fish with us (join or as a guest) we require all entry fees to be collected by close of meeting on the Wednesday before the tournament (hint! Reason for the Wednesday night meeting!). Our membership dues are $25 annually, tournament entry fees are $25 ($5 to Big Bass and $20 to a 1-5 payback), members that are in the Calcutta pot also pay $2 a month to the pot which accumulates until it is won by a trophy sized fish; LMB 7lbs>, Spotted bass 5lbs> or a SMB 5lbs>. If you join the club later in the year and wish to get in the pot you only have to catch up the money for that year if the pot has not been won (before this tournament there is $646 waiting for the taking!). We are not serious at our meetings so don't expect a lot order. We talk about our funds a little bit, talk about the last tournament, eat food, collect entry fees, draw boat numbers, and do a lot of joking. So if this sounds like your type of club come on out and check us out! We meet at the Center Street Tavern and Grill in Old Town Acworth (directions can be found in our website www.castawaybassclubnwga.com/) Look forward to seeing everyone

The main river channel was still rolling mud at least as far south as the 109 bridge, current running all day. The weather started out clear and calm with temps around 50 degrees and warmed quickly to the upper 70s, becoming partly cloudy and pretty windy out of the south, southwest. The fragrance of the Wisteria and Dogwoods blooming just added to the experience! We had 20 members and two guests fishing. It was good to see Andy Arhnt and Ray Ouellette out there with us. Andy and Donna's hospitality at their beautiful home on the lake was unequalled. Those of us who were lucky enough to stay there truly enjoyed it! When the smoke cleared we bowed to Robbie Holmes and acknowledged his win! Robbie put together a 5 fish 9.01lb sack of fish with a 3.65lb spotted bass kicker! rounding out the top five was Eric Fisher in 2nd with 5 fish for 8.52 lbs, Jake Akin had 5 fish for 8.15 lbs, Mike Cronin had 5 fish for 7.96 lbs and finally Barry Martin had 5 fish for 7.35 lbs. We weighed a total of 68 fish for 125.51 lbs with an average of 1.85 lbs per fish. If Nick would have weighed his fish we could have said that the entire field brought fish to the scales (Coach said that Nick actually had a couple of fish! So we can safely say that the club managed to have a 100% on participant catch rate). I enjoyed it, but now it's time to prepare for the two day event on Lake Chatuge on the northern border of Georgia and North Carolina. I have never been there, personally, but plan to make at least one trip up there, hopefully with Barry Martin (who was kind enough to offer his guide services) to look around and see what this lake is all about! If you go to www.castawaybassclubnwga.com be sure and click on the "Tournament Blurps" under the menu on the left side to see this report. Full details or listed in the tournament statistics for 2014. For the active members, just to keep you up to date; the Calcutta pot is still intact and up to $678 now!
