Wednesday night, July 9, 2014, is our next meeting at the Center Street Tavern and Grill in Old Town Acworth, GA (go to www.castawaybassclubnwga.com for directions and details). Our next tournament is this Saturday night on Carters Lake, out of the Dam Ramp. This will be a night tournament, hours will be announced at the meeting on Wednesday night. If you are a member, want to be a member or want to fish as a guest (you do not have to fish with a member if you are a guest, you can fish out of your own boat), we will see you on Wednesday night, or get your entry to me before then or by someone else who is attending.

We will have 20 members fishing this Saturday night from 6PM till 1AM Saturday night. The event will be held out of the Dam Site boat ramp on Carter's Lake. Watch for the results to be posted on Sunday. If a spotted bass 5 lbs or over or a largemouth of 7lbs is weighed (and none larger are weighed) the Calcutta pot will empty out, giving that angler an extra $830! It could happen on this little lake!

It was a 6PM till 1AM tournament out of the Dam Site Ramp. We were told the parking lot was full, but we got all of our guys in there except Eric and Jake, who were told to launch at Doll Mountain by the gate attendant. He made a bad call on that one because there was available parking and pleasure boaters were steadily loading boats and leaving. Regardless, we were in contact with them and everything started on time without another hitch. Hot and Steamy is the only way to describe the pre-dark hours. I was dripping with sweat for several hours! After dark was considerably more comfortable.
Carters gave up some decent fish for some and treated others rather rudely. There were only 6ea. five fish limits brought to the scales and a whole bunch of smaller sacks, a total of only 29 fish were weighed (about a 1.45 fish per person average). The total weight was 69.97lbs for an average of 2.41lbs per fish. I believe I saw one largemouth brought to the scales with the rest all being spotted bass. The biggest of those went to Tommy Parker who also won the tournament, his total was 12.35 and that big bass was a 4.12lb spot (the Calcutta survived another event!). Be sure and review the stats on this website for the individual results.
Here's how the money places went:
4th place was Brinson Roland with 5 fish for 7.14lbs and $40
3rd place was Bob Smith with 5 fish for 7.39 and $80
2nd place went to Jake Akin with 5 fish for 7.59lbs and $120
1st place was Tommy Parker with 5 fish for 12.35lbs and $160 and Big Bass with a 4.12lb fish for $100
Next month is going to be on Lake Guntersville, and the launch location will be Goose Pond Colony (I will call and make sure we have permission and notify everybody if there is a change).
