Does anyone know how much it would cost to lift my engine off my transom for about 30 mins to remove and install a Teleflex cable? Mine is binding up and hard as hell to turn the engine. Or would I be better off going to Northern and buying a engine lift for 160.00?

Bill, until you find someone close to you that has the lift and the eyebolt that fits in the flywheel, here's something you might try.. Take a 3/32" cobalt drill or .090" cobalt tipped drill and drill a hole in each end of your cables just through the sheath not the cable itself (not on the swaging, but adjacent to it). Then turn your motor as far as you can in one direction and spray rust desolver in the holes until you cant get any more in them. Let it set for a while then turn the motor completely in the opposite direction and repeat the process. Eventually you will see the desolved rust coming out in earnest. When you can turn the wheel back and forth and it looks pretty clean, fill the cables back up with a quality spray lubricant like Royal Purple, 3 in one, then cover the holes with a zip tie. This will give you a couple of more years out of it.

I thought about doing that but I already have a good cable ready to be installed. Also a friend of mine is going to let me borrow a lift today. So only thing I have to do is cut the old cable and pull it out and put new cable in, Its already routed to the back. But thanks will put that in my data bank for next time.

Nate, how about an annual PM on a Skeeter with a 175HPDI? Like I said. Anything you need. My glass work is great but my engineering and mechanical skills are second to none. I have hid from the general public for good reason. I'm a one man show like Phil Cline. Gets rough when you're swamped. This year I have two helpers and a lot of outside support. Time to start getting to know the right folks so I get the right kinda business. All my old customers have no known issues. So no repeat business, last large boat I built is on year 11 without any breakdown. References available.

I am very mechanical inclined as I spent the past 30 years fixing aircraft but never hurts to get help from people that actually know the in and outs of certain equipment.
