Well Hallelujah!!!! We finally got to go fishing after all this snow and ice!!! The Big Shanty Bassmasters traveled to “Lake Country” Lake Sinclair this past weekend, January 20th, 2018. Water temps stayed in the mid 40’s all day and was pretty clear for Sinclair this time of year. Weather was nice, started out a bit chilly but warmed up nicely by 3pm weigh in time. Bluebird skies ruled the day as high pressure was building in, which made the fishing pretty tough. But there has to be a winner- Coming in first on the Co-Angler side was Ron McQueen with 3 fish weighing in at 4lbs 12oz anchored by a 2lb 13oz largemouth bass. Congrats to Ron as this is his first tournament back after being sidelined with health issue over the past 3 months. 2nd on the Boater side was Scott Bates with 5 fish at 6lbs 3 ozs. Scott marks his return back with a solid 2nd place finish after also being sidelined with health issue. 1st place on the Boater side was Danny Perdue with 2 fish at 6lbs 5 ozs anchored by big Fish of the tournament at 4lbs 01oz. Danny reports that both fish came on a Carolina rigged trick worm in Green pumpkin. “You had to be cognizant and focused at all times. You wouldn’t feel the bites, you would just feel a sight heavy sensation”. The next club meeting is February 5th and the next scheduled tournament is February 10th at Bartletts Ferry. The Club is accepting new membership for both Boater and Co-angler. As always you do not need to own a boat to join. Thanks to our club sponsors Southern Clean, restaurant and commercial cleaning service and Burchs Tackle Shop in Canton Ga.
