Just a rough idea here. How about planning a day in the spring to get together for a spring tune up. This could take place anywhere, it does not have to take up ramp parking. The idea is to get together and go through our equipment (Boats, trailers, rods, reels, safety gear etc.) and have a check list of safety and maintenance items to look for such as: hoses, belts, straps, wheels, tires, hubs,PFD's,ropes, fire extinguishers, lights, transoms, engine mounts etc etc. Go over cleaning/tuning rods, reels, lures etc.
It would be a good time to sharpen hooks, fix loose stuff we keep putting off. Organize tackle boxes.
What do y'all think? I know that sometimes we all put off doing maintenance and stuff because we want to hit the water. If we make it an event, we can help each other too.

Thats a great idea. We might be able to get the Coast Guard Auxillary or the U.S. Power Squadrons to help with boat checks.

If this idea happens I know that the Coast Guard Auxilliary will do a safety check on our boats. They could also be contacted for a check list for the boat.

Thats kinda what I was thinking, have the Coast Guard Auxiliary come for safety checks and the rest of us help each other out on things like rod and reel maintenance, trailer hub lubing, motor tilt lubing etc. A couple of floor jacks, some grease, oil and trailer light wires would go a long way to getting all up to snuff as they say. The big thing is just taking the time to do what most of us know needs to be done but are too ready just to get on the water. Any ideas Y'all?

Interesting idea, but if some of yall wait until spring to check and see if the trailer bearings are still alright, or if the lights work, we could see some major issues on the side of the road.
