OK here it is, I am setting a date of Saturday Febuary 9th for the first cutting session of 2008. We will meet at Blockhouse ramp at 9:00 AM and work for 4 - 5 hours. This will give me time to get all the needed supplies togeather and the COE and DNR time to mark more trees (several have already been marked). Also will give everyone time to recooperate from the Superbowl the previous Sunday. I'm looking forward to this years cutting and when you see the maps of where we are cutting I believe you will be too. In the mean time if anyone has access to chainsaw chaps, hard hats or eye and ear protection please let me know.
Please post any replies under this forum thread.

Ray I have to be at work at 1:00 so I can cut for a couple of hours. I'll bring my boat so I can leave early. It might be closer if we meet at Red Top. That is unless you have other reasons for meeting at blockhouse.

All I have is a worn out opld chainsaw that wouldn't hold up, but I can be there, with boat, gloves and a strong back to help out on the 9th. Have to go to Tennessee the following weekend so if you stick with the 9th I'm good to go.

If you don't have a saw bring a big hammer, I use a 28 oz. ballpean myself. You will need it to drive these..... and it may have to be hammered into rock, like this.... So that you can tie to the tree like this..... After the cutter does this (click on the picture)....

Nitro189 that will not be a problem, there will be some weekday work at a later date. Look forward to your help at that time.

Kewl, looking forward to it! Sure hope we get a number of hardwood trees to (they last a lot longer and those pesky pine cones don't grab your line as bad! ;D
