Water level is 3.7ft below full pool and steady, Water temp 83 degrees
Fishing has been hit and miss. Before the tsunami we got fishing wasn't bad. After the Tsunami things got a little on the tough side. The topwater bite in the morning is extremely hit and miss. One day you whack them the next you don't. I am changing up my topwater areas daily to find concentrations of fish. I haven't seen any schooling in 2 weeks. I suspect the schooling will be more prevalent in July provided our water level continues to drop. This rain didn't help much
The magic depth right now is between 18 and 20 feet. Watch your graph and find out what levels the bait is at and use that as your guide on what depth level to concentrate on. My 2 best bites right now are Spot Tails and the dropshot worked at the magic depth. If you stuck with the dropshot bite before this rain you could catch some pretty decent numbers. I'm using fairly small baits for my numbers that match the size of the spot tails, but my slightly bigger fish are coming on the bigger baits but the bites are not as plentiful. Concentrate on the points, humps, brush, bluff walls and small deep ditches with the dropshot.
One thing that I saw alot of this week is some very very nice wolfpacking. I've seen 3 good schools of BIG spots coming up in groups chasing our baits. We haven't hooked any of them yet but it is very encouraging to see that kind of behavior this time of year. I did manage to scoop up a small swimbait fish this morning so thats a cool deal
I will post a match the hatch picture soon to give you an idea of bait sizes and colors.
