I have been on the lake almost everyday this week and the fishing is a little tougher this week than last. The hybrids and stripes that I were catching have all but vanished. Still alot of schooling spots at first light. They are more finicky than ever. The key with them is throwing it on their nose and make it easy for them. The spots I am catching now are solid 2lbers with a few nicer one's in the mix. Still a very consistant 10-12lbs per trip which is up there as a quality tournament weight for this time of year. If we land a kicker the average shoots up pretty quick. This week was a little unlucky for us. We lost our kicker on almost everyday. Louie B had a mammoth spot just happened to land a nice 3lb largemouth for a very nice stringer this morning.
The sonar bite is also slowing down some. TYpically the bigger spots will follow beneath the big schools of hybrids and stripes and sit below them to get the easier meal that the hybrids stripes miss as it falls towards the bottom. So with the hybrids/stripes gone that has scattered the spots out some. Right now my best pattern is blind casting with the spoon and keeping my bait in the 20-22ft range. All different kinds of structure is working right now as long as it is in that magic depth range. I am also doing some vertical fishing with the spoon as well. Just mixing it up seems to be key and is producing the most consistant catches for me. IT's definitely some work to make things happen, but even though the numbers have slipped, I am still rating the fishing as GOOD due to the quality.
Last week I skipped the GPS coordinates so I wil double up on them this week. Both of these brushpiles are in Clear Creek and located about 40-50yds apart. But they are 2 seperate piles. I have one more week of GPS coordinates. I hope this has been helpful to everyone to get an idea of what to look for in area selection.

For the rest of August I have ONE day left and that is August 23rd. If you want to learn some summer patterns as well as electronics there is a ton of cool things to see and learn on the electronics right now. Also if your interesting in learning how to spoon fish with some topwater in the mix shoot me an email at mbucca@comcast.net . Give me a chance to shed off several years of your learning curve on patterning our summer fish on Lake Allatoona. I do have some days open in September as well. Thanks to all that have booked trips with me recently and also the ones that already have trips booked for future dates. I really appreciate your support!
All the SPOTS!!
