Well I had no takers on the cancellation that I had so I went out fishing by myself. I built upon what I found pattern wise yesterday and expanded on it with a few ideas that I had. The spot bite is ridiculous and are in full stage as we speak. I think they will be bedding next week sometime. Reason I feel like they haven't spawned yet is because I am not catching them on the flats yet which to me signifies post spawn. I went through 2 bags of senkos in less than 15 minutes LOL. Sheesh I mean if you are in them you are slap in them. It got to the point that I was tired of catching them after an hour. Mostly small fish big fish maybe 2.5lbs or so. Missed a handful as well. The deal with the spots is they are concentated heavily in certain areas you just gotta put that trolling motor on high and find them. I found some in pockets and a few in the short pockets off the main lake at the mouth of the spawning grounds so there is really no set pattern other than they are where they are when you find them.
I was looking for some bedding fish and I am still seeing alot of fish on the beds but not much size. Along the way I found the mother lode of shellcrackers. I made a call to my wife and told her I am coming to get my 3 year old son Kevin out of daycare and let him tie into some of these fish. I stuck him with his scooby doo rod and I went with the fly rod and we had a ball. My son has been practicing his casting at the house and it paid off today as we were casting side by side for the first time and he was baiting his own hook. The magic bait was corn.
Goose that is "yellow" corn and we were "twitchin" it under a cork ;D.
I took half of these home and gave the other half to a gentleman at the ramp. Gonna fry them up tommorrow for dinner .
