Got out this morning with Terry and Bret both father and son. Both are very green to fishing and they wanted to learn some basics and catch a few fish. After about 2 minutes of casting lessons where I almost got a fish demonstrating how to cast a spinning rod and how to work a Splash It Popper LOL we were off to the schooling fish and both guys actually got a fish within the first 5 minutes of casting. We got probably a little over 15 fish with several nice 2-3lb fish almost all of them on topwater and we lost lord knows how many. Bret actually lost a 4lb spot at the boat that was busting shad on top. Today was the first topwater fish for both Bret and Terry today as well. Concentrate at the mouths of spawning pockets and creeks. Looks like our schooling post spawn action is starting to pick up finally. It's about almost a month late. Enjoy the topwater action while you can!
