I decided to do a Carters Trip just for a change of scenery. Man I keep forgetting what a beautiful drive through the country it is on the way to Carters on Hwy 411.
But anyway the water temp was 70 degrees and look like the water was right around full pool but the water came down some by the end of the day I noticed by looking at the water level at the ramp.
Fishing was really good. Awesome swimbait bite going on right now. IT's not easy fishing but it's a good fish or two an hour and the ones you do catch are very nice size. Water is fairly clear but still not super clear which is usually standard on Carters. I am guessing 5 ft clarity where you normally get 8-10ft clarity on Carters. For 8 hrs I got like 9 fish and thats not counting how many I saw LOL. Every darn one of them on the 8 inch Hampton Shad as I threw it all day long and it was nice to only have one rod on the front deck for a change LOL. I was mostly working the deep water in the main lake. I didn't get one fish shallower than 30ft. Most of my fish came in the 35 to 45ft range with the bigger spot in the pic came out of 80ft of water LOL. Think Deep, BIG and SUSPENDED when you fish Carters LOL. I had a few extremely nice followers yesterday. Well to put it another way I saw some spots that I personally don't think I have seen much bigger LOL. That 7lb 2oz Spot lake record won't be holding much longer on Carters. I saw Wayyy to many 5-6lb spots in that lake for it not get broken. Almost all of my fish were between 2 and 3lbs with the exception of the kicker in the photo. I had an easy 15lb best 5 all spots.. The highlight of the trip was the way that bigger spot hit my swimbait. I was reeling the bait along and I felt a bump (thats my sign for spots playing with my bait). I immediately starting reeling very fast to trigger the fish to bite again. That big spot shot out of that 80ft of water and T Boned my 8 inch Hampton Shad and went completely airborne about 3 ft in the air. I had to wait for her to land back in the water before I set the hook LOL. WHAT A RUSH that was. I wish I had that on video of that T Bone that was an awesome hit definitely the best of all time that I have seen on a swimbait fish. I think I'll go back there next week ;D:)
