Water Temp 43 to 54
Water Clarity Clear
Water Level 14.33 ft low
Sorry for the lack of reports lately. Been busy putting out fires elsewhere
.
The fishing in the last week of Nov and first week of December has been pretty darn good overall and I am loving this clear water this time of year. Overall average size of fish is up as is numbers. I'm ranging anywhere from 12 to 22 fish a day and that depends mostly on the wind. If it's windy it makes it tough to fish the productive areas. With the temps already reaching the mid 40's this year I wouldn't be suprised if we get a shad kill. The birds have already arrived and are anxiously awaiting the ritual.
There are quite a few baits that are working now. Spoon is always going to be a winter favorite and it's working good if you stick with it. I'm not getting the typical constant action out of the spoon right now due to the fish constantly moving and the school sizes are not very big. So basically you are fishing for drive buys on the sonar with the spoon. But anywhere near the river channel is where you need to be with the spoons.
The best bite for me right now in numbers and size is fishing small hair jigs ;D. They are biting the hair jigs 4 to 1 over regular jigs based on my experimentation. I am fishing them on 8lb Triple Fish fluorocarbon. Alot of those bites are very subtle so use your 6th sense here. Concentrate on the channel ledges and main lake points in the 10 to 15 ft depth range.
Here are a few pics of the past few days. BTW yes that bottom pic is a trout that I caught on a spoon yesterday. Sorry for blurring out my clients head. He wanted to go incognito for a tournament next week.
