Water Temp 44-48
Water Clarity Fairly Clear
Water Level 14.7ft low (not for long LOL)
Fishing is still great. We need another cold snap tho!!. I just do better on the colder days as it positions the fish for me better.
I got out yesterday and stayed all day long. I got 70+ fish day yesterday and thats with 5 stitches in my hand (being squemish), no pliers (threw the fish in the bottom of the boat and the pliers overboard DUH!!) I need to work on that more thats the 4th pair of pliers I have caught and released LOL. All of my fish were whites, hybrids, crappie, catfish, stripers, largemouth, spots and a yellow bass. The only thing I didn't catch yesterday was a bream?? LOL. They were thick for hours and they were all caught on a spoon and I really didn't try anything else. Most of the fish I am finding (both bass and whites) are from Clear Creek and North. That is where I am finding the vast majority of the bait and that is where they seem to be most active. Even more specific if you have a Side Imaging you will clearly notice that almost all of the schools of fish and bait are all over the channel. It's almost like a ghost town on the flats but once you hit the channel ledge it gets interesting. Hard to tell you how important that is without showing you the Side Imagery. The 2 big schools that I found were in 44 degree water and the fish were like ice cold when you brought them in. The key here when you are dealing with water that cold you really need to slow down your cadence considerably to get bit. Bait just does not jump up and down in water that cold. Most of my bites came while the spoon was motionless and spinning on a tight line by watching your graph to make sure your spoon was at the right depth level. They loaded it up just like they would a dropshot. Fun bite.
With the BIG storms we have rolling in I would have to guess anything north of Kellogg might be a mud hole but we didn't have much runoff from the last rain we had so we will see...
If you want to learn how to spoon fish, dropshot, jig fish and sonar techniques now is the time to do a trip. Lots of good things to see and learn this time of year!
I have just a handful of days open in December. Janaury is starting to book. I have THREE gift certificiates left over for sale. For more info visit www.tritonmike.com/gift.html
