Water Temp 62-72
Water Clarity Clear to Stained
Water Level 1.23ft high
Moon Phase New Moon
Fishing is GREAT as our temps have risen a GOOD bit over the past week. Last week we were stuck on 58-60 as the high now I am seeing 72. I had to thump my temp gauge a few times to see if that was right LOL. Good fishing right now and the lake (Spots) are starting to wake up. Largemouth are on the beds all over the lake and have been for about 3 weeks now. Looks like the smaller heads are bedding now, last week the bigger fish were on. So we have largemouth in all phases of the spawn now (pre, spawn and post spawn) and we are at the end of April. Crazy!
Like clock work when the lake water is 60 degrees when you launch the spots start their staging routine and that is what is starting to happen now. Look for about a week, week and a half (depending on the weather of course) of good fishing especially for numbers but now unlike any other is the time to get a BIG spot on Lake Allatoona.. Expect our Spot Spawn to hit very very late April to Week 1 May. Lots of baits are working now and the fish will be scattered throughout the main lake and also in the creek arms (mostly main lake pockets and creek mouths). Their really is no reason to sissy fish right now as the fish are wolf packing pretty good and chasing. Dr. Spot spinnerbaits are doing well, Senkos, jerkbaits, and of course BIG Bull Shads
.
White bass fishing is also off the charts. If they stay put and you find the right school 100 fish is very feasible and it's all sonar fishing using spoons. Drop the spoon on a blank screen and it will black out before the spoon hits the bottom
LOL. My kind of fishing
.
Bigger fish are becoming tougher to target but with some deligence you can still find a nugget or two especially early and late afternoon they seem to be a little bit more aggressive. All of these fish below came on the 9 inch Bull Shad and it took the Jaws of Life to get the 2/0 treble hooks out of these fish.
