No, Bob.......you're right.......I expected just what Mike said! From the one day i spent fishing with him and seeing what was stuffed into the compartments of his boat, I bet he gets 5 more mph on plane in the winter

I cant back it up with any data but I am like you, I use a 10 micron filter, Marine Stabil and Ring Free on every tank. I really dont use mine alot so I change the filter once a year. What I have been hearing is a lot of confusion with Mercury Owners who have the spin on fuel filter,,, I am trying to convince by Biz pard that he needs a seperate water filter but he was told the Mercury spin oil fuel filter was also a water seperator. Shawn can you confirm or deny? ? The 10 micron filter is an added precaution and an easy install. I have a Mariner Mag EFI 200 HP and it also has the spin on filter. I just thought that the $75 I spent on the 10 Micron filter just sounded like a really good investment.

Danny, did you ever get any info ref the Merc filter? In looking at my owners manual, one of the routine maintenance procedures is to drain water from the filter and it gives the instructions on how to do that....that seems to indicate your partner may be correct that the Merc filter does in fact serve as water seperator.
