Anglers, Got another boating issue....They seem to keep coming lol I have a livewell pump that continues to blow fuses. I have been told that there could be a short in the wiring or a problem with the pump itself. I was told to disconnect the power supply to the pump and see if the fuse blew again. If so the problem was in the wiring, if not the pump was to blame. Has anyone had any experience with this problem. If the problem is with the Pump, what are the steps to take for checking it out for problems? Thanks, Archie Scott

Sounds like a bad pump. Depending on what kind it is you can get one at WalMart and change it out fairly easy.

When you turn it on does it run a while then blow the fuse or blow the fuse the minute you turn it on? Could be something stuck in the impeller, or a bad pump motor, or it could be a short in the line that grounding out somewhere. Find the wire to the pump and cut it about a foot from the pump. Take the pump out and put the wires (make sure you know which is the source and which is the ground) to the battery terminals and see if it runs.

While your fixing the livewell pump i would suggest putting a pro air system in it if your going to fish tournaments.. I have a pro air system in my boat an have only lost 1 fish an it was because it was hooked deep...

what kind of pump is it?if its a rule they crack and start blowing fuses.a mayfair normally lasts longer.check and see if theres any trash inside the pump, gravel etc.....look over the pump see if its bulged could have gotten hot from being shorted.make sure impeller on pump turns freely.
