I think Laugh will agree with me when I say I think some of the comments here about "cops" may be as a result of some folks encounters with one bad apple as they say. I was a "cop" for over 21 years - I always tried to hold myself to a higher standard - my son is a "cop" and I've tried to teach him the same way. He has been in a patrol car for about seven years now and still has the same ticket book he was issued as a rookie...........obviously he doesn't write tickets much : ). It's a fact, there's some cocky, lazy and unqualified people on the job out there - it boils down to "you get what you pay for".........but there's also quite a few out there who, regardless of the low pay and long hours, try and do a fair, honest and professional job. Hopefully, those will be the ones we encounter.

You guys nailed it talking about the money being more important than cops doing real police work. I work for a county EMS so I have to work with the police on a regularly. On a regular basis we have to pick up drunks, druggies, and dui's to take to the hospital because the cops dont have to do any paper work if they dont take them to jail. All the while tax payers pay for the ambulance ride since most of these folks have no income or live off of social assistance anyways. For the most part in my personal experience we would be better off if cops just stayed off the road! I hope you never need one.

occasionalfisher i lived in rome for 6 years the city cops are a bunch of idiots and they act like they are the nypd or something. since its in floyd co. call them and let them know from my experience and others around me they do much better they have a lot of vets young and old on the force those men know how to treat others and what honor duty and respect mean

Ineffectual police are bad, But worse are the ineffectual teachers in ALL of our school systems. Not to dsay that all the office staffs are hard workers either
