Welcome to our little community. Paul you will find out the more you post the more people will get to know you as well. And the more people know about you the more they will open up to you on both the open forum and via PM's. But I can't remember a question that was put on the forum that wasn't answered by someone on here. Glad you found us.

Thanks, looking forward learning more about Allatoona. A little bit about my background then... I was born and grew up in northeast Ohio on Lake Erie. By my Dad's stories, I was fishing before I could walk. I grew up catching Walleye, Pike, Bass and chasing the elusive Muskies around OH, PA, NY and Canada. I moved south 15 years ago and relocated to Kennesaw with my wife and two girls almost 3 years ago. I've fished a bit locally in that time, but nowhere near as much as I'd like! I just got back from two weeks in upstate New York visiting my wife's family and got a ton of fishing time in (fly fishing the rivers, night fishing for Large Mouth with topwater, etc). When we got home I made myself the promise that I'd start fishing more locally... And here I am. ;-)

Welcome to the board Paul. I know you will enjoy the conversations, tips, how to's, and where to go threads. There are alot of knolegable fisherman on this board, and they usually do a pretty good job of spreading the information. I am from Rockmart and have been fishing now for 53 years. Again,,,,,, Welcome.

Thank you - I just found the bank fishing map. That's going to help me a lot! I'm boatless until I can convince the wife otherwise (yeah, I know... good luck). We actually have a deal that if my brother-in-law moves up here from FL we can buy a boat together. For now I'm stuck with a kayak ... So technically I guess I'm not really boatless ;-)

Paul, my sons and I fished Allatoona from our kayaks for about a year before my wife agreed that if we would sell the kayaks, we could buy a boat. The good news is; kayaks sell really quickly on Craigslist in the Atlanta area! -- I'm new to fishing having started late in life and the guys on this forum have been really helpful to me in learning how to fish the lake from a boat. There is also a good forum for kayak fishermen that helped me a lot when we were kayak fishing. It is at: www.georgiakayakfishing.com/ Chuck

That's a great link! I guess I have the boat in my head as the ultimate goal but, to be honest, I've had a blast fishing from my Kayak. Unfortunately at the moment it's in NY because I agreed to leave it there for the remainder of the summer so my nephews and neices could use it. What can I say, I'm a sucker. Uncle Paul always shares his cool toys. ;-) You're right about Craiglist... I just checked the North Atlanta listings and there are a ton of Kayaks for sale (some really nice ones too).

Paul Hi and welcome to the board. I know the felling about the boat. My wife got sooo mad when I told her that I was getting a boat. The one thing I learned in life is it's better to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission. Yeah I know it doesn't always work out so good but my wife does like to go out on the boat. If you need some one to show you around the lake a little I would be happy to help out on my boat, but you know a Kayak can be just as much fun. If you want to go out some time send my a PM and we'll see what we can work out.
