A while back I posted up that I was having motor issues. "Couldent get up on plan, bogging down and sometimes at fun throttle it would bog out". Well took you all advace finialy and replaced the following:
Primer Bulb and gas line. Replaced the fuel filter.
This did nothing to help.
Next I looked at the plugs. Noticed lots of oil and pitting on the plugs. Replaced them out. Filled up with 93 grade gas and used a additive (carb cleaner, the merc stuff)
Took it out on the lake and man it ran like it was new.
Thanks for all the advise and help on this. Your help made me confident to do the work myself and I was able to fix it with out having to take it to a shop.
Thanks for all the help
Dan

I usually change my plugs every year, my lower unit at least once a year (sometimes twice), my waterpump every other year (at least the impeller). I watch my bulb for dry cracking and change it if necessary (I normally buy the bulb/hose combinaton and kill two birds with one purchase). Now IF I ever have to have another overhaul and I own a Mercury or Yamaha product, there is only one place that is going to get that work and that is Paul Nichols Outboard Engineering in Soddy Daisy, TN. Excellent work for a fair price!

Hey Dan, you may want to pull those plugs after a few trips and see if they are covered in oil. It could be you are running rich for one reason or another, and that is what is causing your issue. You may have basically fixed a symptom, but not the issue.
Then again, if you haven't changed your plugs in a while, it could just be that they were getting old and fouled out on you.

Chris. The pugs that I pulled were three years old but you got a good point. Will check them after a few trips.
