Question on Drop shot

I’m new to Allatoona and not that experienced at fishing deep water. Any recommendation on what is working the best? I’ve been hearing about the drop shot rig. Is it a good rig to use and where, also what is the best way to work it? Where would the best place to launch and fish this time of the year. Any help guys would be appreciated. Thanks

I am no pro but I use a 7'2 Shimano Crucial Rod with a Flueger Presidential 6735 reel. I use Gary Yamamoto Sugoi 6 lbs test drop shot line. I have been reading that 4 and 5 lbs test is alot better. I also use 4" roboworms. I hope this helps but like I said I am no pro and Mike could be a better help. Good Fishing Buddy! Ken

I like to fish the drop shot the same way and locations that I fish any other worm. Not to be a wise a$$ but fish it anywhere the fish are located. Right now I would consentrate on deep structure ie rock piles, brush piles, humps in the 25 to 35 ft range. Points near deep water in the early morning and late afternoon.
