Just want to let everyone know that Mike and myself have been having discussions with the COE about what areas we would like to see marked for cutting this year. So far they have been very receptive to our ideas of where to cut and will begin marking these new areas in the near future. It may even be possible that some help may be needed to mark these areas. I will let you know if that need becomes a definite.
In the near future I will try to plan a work day not for cutting but to enlist help in making up some cables for the up coming cutting days. Once again the areas that are cut will not be published to the general public until a later date. Not that anyone can not see them if they happen upon them. And I know that both Mike and myself are excited to see these new areas included this year as they are areas that we have wanted to see cut since the begining of the project in 2007. But in any regards start sharpening your chain saws and as soon as the sap gets up in the trees lets splash some timber in 2011.

I plan to help out if the dates work out this year. I really hate I missed last year, but have enjoyed the fruits of all of your labors.

Hey ray see if we are able to cut any hardwood trees this year or just pines again. The reason I am asking is o seen an artical on the types of cover that bass like. They said that something about pines cause the bass not to hide around them they said they think that It,s something about the sap that causes this. But hardwood trees always holds more amd bigger fish. It,s just a thought. And I will try and be there this year.

Robert once again the vast majority of trees we cut will be pines. After all that is what we mostly have around the shoreline of the lake. However we have never cut "JUST" pine trees. We have always cut a few hardwoods where they meet the criteria of the project. There are "JUST" a lot fewer of them to cut at the shoreline with exposed root systems to cut. Which is one of the good things about being in on the actual cutting of the trees, you get to know where the prime trees are at when you cut them into the lake yourself. I have seen articles like what you're talking about but do not know that I believe them from what I have seen. I myself have seen schools of fish in the pine trees with in 1 hour of them been cut into the lake. Now with all of that being said I do myself perfer to have hardwoods to cast to. And I do believe the hardwoods last longer in the water. But in reality any cover is better than no cover at all and we will just have to get the hardwoods where we can.
