Bank fishing advise I receive from an old timer.

When a friend mine told me that his retired neighbor was catching some good smallmouth bass I thought so what. Then he said that he was fishing from the bank and that he was using minnows. So I asked him for the details and he stated that he used big minnows casting them off points. He nose hooked his minnows and used a split shot for his weight. Placed his rod in the holder and opened the bail. His secret strike detection device was the soft drink can he finished off on the way to the lake. Wrapping his line around the drink can he waited for a bite. Sounds good but when my friend told me that when the old timer showed him one of his days catch he about fell out. He used 2 five gallon buckets when he fished using one for minnows and one for his catch. The bucket with the fish had 3 smallmouth bass in it and all of their tails were sticking out of the bucket. Sounds like a fish tail but if you ever end up with your boat in the shop you might want to dig out a couple of 5 gallon buckets and give it a try. Might just work on those old Carters spot!!!

You obviously have a sound command of the proper equipment required for that type of fishing.

Just somethin about sitting on the bank and waiting for a pole to bend makes me thirsty. Oh yeah....bologna sandwiches too.
