I am a member of the Lanier Bass Masters we are not affiliated with flw or bass. We have boaters and non-boaters which are paired by a draw at each meeting. If you are a boater and elect to stay out of the draw you may fish by yourself or bring a friend. I think they normally fish about 12 tournaments per year. At least six on Lanier and the others vary. Some of the lakes are Russell, Sinclair, Hartwell, Guntersville, Eufala. We meet the third Monday of each month at the bass pro shop in Lawrenceville back in the meeting room.

Well Coach i thought about that but i used to be a treasurer & Sec in one of the Federated Clubs i was in, that was hard work and not a very Thankfull job. It seems like everything i got involved with i ended up being on the board or President like Bellsferry softball, i was just a Dad standing by watching then i was an asst coach, then the All Star Travel Coach then the President of the whole organization. I just want to fish, even though if i were to get the help i know would be as commited to working hard like i would i might do it. it would be a club that wasn't federated and a 1 man club that didn't have meetings, just show at the ramp, pay your entry and go fishing. Maybe later like the next year keeping 15% of the purse from each tourny towards the classic, no draw just a 1 man(Boater) format. All i would need is someone to check livewells and weigh fish, i would do the payout(1-5) and take entries. But you would be amazed how hard it is to get someone to help with that. ;D

Use the K I S S system When I was pres of one here, we met once a year to review rules and make changes. Set the lakes and dates. You paid a small annual fee and paid if you fished at one of the tournaments and paid back the entry less 10 % for classic. You had to fish X # to qualify for classic and it was a 1 day affair. We drew partners for the next tournament at the ramp of that tournament you just fished

I agree with Coach in keeping it simple. I was President of the Etowah Bassmasters for a number of years and to get people to attend the meetings you got a lb added to your cumulative weight which went toward you making the top six. Attend 12 meetings and you had a bonus 12 lbs. We had enough people who wanted to qualify for top six that they generally showed up. Other than an occassional guest speaker not much was accomplished at the meetings.

Other than an occassional guest speaker not much was accomplished at the meetings. I've created and run several clubs from Nashville, TN to Texas. I can say without a doubt that rewarding members to come to the meeting only netted a few more people. You will have some foks that thoroughly enjoy coming to the meetings and others that wanted simply fish the events. The best thing we did was have the meeting on set night each month and the tournament that following weekend. The trick was that you had to pay before or at the meeting because we wouldn't take money at the ramp, and we would award the winners at the next meeting (that's how we got around the tournament fees at a lot of the COE lakes). That worked really well except for the guys who worked nights.

I have to finish a course I am working on, but I would be available sometime in May to get with everybody and plan something. I have sent some basic rules and by-laws to a few guys already.
