when you guys are on allatoona do u keep alot of the fish for food or throw them back? I was wondering also what you mean that you caught 5 keepers. Do you use them for a tourney and throw them back or what?

gooseman are you a lawyer ? just jokeing, as for keeping fish to eat i don't but thats up to you. it dont have to be a tourney to say i cought 5 keepers its just a figure speech but most tourney do have a five limit [but you have to catch them when fishing the tourney] not catch them and save them for later . but when fishing a tourney i don't have that problem because i never catch five.

I mean do people eat spots and large mouth bass? I thought they were a catcht for a tourney and relaese after the tourney was over. I don't mind if they eat bream or cats but i thought bass were catch and release fish. It am not one of those tree hugers or PETA animal people.(I respect wildlife bass,deer, birds)

Some people do eat bass, Its just a personal preference. As for Tournaments, 99.9% of them will be a catch and release type of event. As for the term "keeper", That simply refers to the size limit imposed on a certain type of fish. In Ga. Largemouth bass must be 12" or longer to be kept (except in some other lakes where the size limit my be modified such as Lake Lanier, and Lakes Oconee, West Point, and Eufala) Go here to this link to the GA DNR web site and it has all the information on daily possession limits and length limits on fish and waters. georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/Assets/Documents/fisheries/GAFishing_0708_web.pdf

i didn't mean it like that. its good for the lake to take out some of the smaller bass. most people just throw back the bigger ones to get bigger, bigger. most people eat crappie i would say.

Some people believe that taking out smaller bass helps the over-all opulation. I'm one of those when I want to eat some or should I say feel like cleaning them when I get home. ;D

Louii that's one of my primary reason's for being a 99.9 % catch and release fisherman.

I know what all you guys mean about taking small ones out. I fished this pond and nothing would get any size. Took out a few and they got big. They had plenty of shad and bluegill to feast on.

i know alot of guys that dont take fish but at the weight in when they see floaters they will take them home there already dead so no harm and usually the bigger fish are the ones that are floaters cant handle the trama of the traveling around in the livewells
