Hello everyone! I'm a totaly newb to lake allatoona, and I have already learned...I'm not in Texas anymore. I have always fished, but for the past 2 years I have lived in East Texas. East Texas is a land of shallow lakes, tons of hyrilla, and HUGE bass. As a total rookie in Texas my average bites were 2-3lbs...I've been back in Georgia for 6 months now, and today is the first time I've seen a 2lbs+bass come out of lake allatoona lol I'll admit it, I suck at fishing lake allatoona...but, I really enjoy the challenge.
I hired Lee Pitts to guide me on lake Weiss, AL last may, and after catching several 5lbs bass in one day I went home and bought a 2010 Nitro X5 115hp. I am a total addict! I'm hoping to meet fellow addicts, and people who have a passion for teaching the rooks likes me how to fish lake allatoona.
FISHING REPORT:
April 2, 2011:
I launched at Cherokee County Park around 9:00am. My dad and I fished the eastern shorline working our way north on the Etowah river. After about a half mile my dad caught his first ever bass (2lbs spot) around 9:30am on a large white rooster tail throwing towards the bank. Maybe 10 mins later I landed 1.5 lbs spot on a shaky head. I was using the typical ball head with a green pumpkin, black flake bug bite stick worm working it parallel to shore about 10 yards off. After that, we had ZERO bites. So we headed up to Sweet Water camp ground. We saw fish on the lowrance around the point, but with the wind I couldn't figure out how to get them. After getting tossed around in the wind for a couple of hours we called it a day.
Any and all suggestions are welcome. Happy to be here on the boards! My goal for the year is to land a 4lbs + spot, and any largemouth over 3lbs.
