Hello GA folks...I am a fairly green bass angler from Birmingham, AL - 27 years of age - been fishing for 3 years, 2 years in my boat - fish only perhaps 20 days per year - work sucks (pharmacist)!!
Had read bill siemantels book this year and bought a swimbait rod and reel and only have tried it a couple times, caught my first swimbait fish on lay lake a few weeks back - my PB spot (3.2 lb) (i havent really targeted spot much before - i am so hooked).
Have learned all that I know from mainly fishing with my elder neighbor so far, traditional bass fisherman largely - but wanting to learn to fish better now (we dont do all that well in deep winter and summer) -
Want to learn swimbait tactics in my waters better (mainly lay lake and smith perhaps), float n fly has peaked my interested (ordered flies from natures tackle box as of today - got my f/f rod, ready to get out and try that soon...
I have found that since I have been fishing on public larger waters with my neighbor more these past 10 months or so, I have struggled - prior to that we fished smaller private water that he fished, and we always tended to to better on these waters, I think my lack of experience and depth of fishing knowledge has shown more now, we need to fix that
Hoping you good folks will help me key in on the big fish on my lakes better than I have been doing so far...that is my main goal in fishing is to simply catch bigger fish year round...my first two years of fishing I didnt catch anything hardly over 4 lb's - after tewaking my mindset a bit, just this year in 2010 I caught my PB largie 7 lber, and now my PB spot, and Ive caught 3-4 4 lb largies, so some of my experience is paying off, but it hoping you all will help me get much more than that!!
Take Care.
Thanks Mike for the help over email so far, I promise I will stop sending you so many emails
