hey all-
on the lake yesterday, i hit some rocks (going very slow) at Galts and when i got out, i saw that i took a chunk out of my prop...
i have a 14' tin boat (flat bottom) with a 1979 model Merc 20 on the back...
since i know NOTHING about props, could someone advise me on what to get?
the one thats on there has quicksilver 98 (?) stamped on it...
it runs well and pushes the boat with no problems... usually i have 2 people (maybe just over 400 lbs human) and a battery, fuels, cooler, 23 lbs of anchor (one 15 bow and 8 stern) and a couple small tackle boxes... but sometimes seems to cavitate as i can feel the boat lurch and want to slow, but never does the RPMs get too high
i dont need to plane out at 25 mph, we usually run about 10-12 mph (by the humminbird) just looking for a good prop that may deliver a little better fuel economy...
thanks!!

If you are going to replace the prop yourself you can find one or craigslist, if you want someone local to do it for you call Dalton Marine and speak to Glenn, they are located on Hwy 92, they carry all different sizes of Props. Dalton- 770-974-0529 or maybe Bay Marine located on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw, talk to Terry at Bay Marine 770-427-3578

TB, if you have the enternet, google prop selector, it will bring you to a website that shows the right prop for your rig. Best of Luck with it

TB Bay Marine, on the northbound side of 41 (Cobb PKW) just before McCollum Parkway NW/Chastain. They should have just about any kind of prop you might need, or will be able to get it for you in a couple of days. Heading north on Hwy 41 you will pass Barrett Parkway, and go for about 1 1/2 miles. You cannot miss it.
