What a weekend! Several of us got down to Lakeside RV resort and boat ramp on Friday afternoon just after the Thunderstorms rolled through. We launched and went out for about 3-4 hours with only a couple of intermittent light showers. The fishing was good with water temps in the upper 60s and low 70s. The wind was light for the most part. We launched Saturday morning along with about 100 other boats due to a High School Football Fundraising tournament and another club from Columbus, GA (pretty busy boat ramp!). We decided to extend our tournament day by an hour, and ended up trying to get our boats out of the water at the same time the Fundraiser tournament folks were coming out! After the smoke cleared we were still standing and survived chaos! There were some decent sacks weighed in despite the blue bird skies and steady wind. We woke up today to cloudy and cool conditions. At first it was dead calm and by the time we had weigh in there was a light wind (compared to yesterday!). When it was all said and done, we started with 16 anglers but one went home due to boat troubles. The 15 remaining members weighed in a total of 87 fish for a total weight of 208.06lbs, an average of 2.39lbs per fish. Here are the top four place finishes: 4th place went to Stan Knowles with 10 fish for 16.18lbs 3rd place went to Mike Cronin with 10 fish for 18.51lbs 2nd place went to Robbie Holmes with 10 fish for 18.89lbs, he also had Big Bass t 4.01lbs 1st place was Monty Cantrell with 10 fish for 21.26lbs
The Calcutta pot is still intact! Those big bass sure are elusive!

Has or had a restaurant next door? Is the place finally cleaned up. The last time I stayed there (some 8-10 yrs ago) Ants were coming out of the wall while taking a shower,, the walls were super thin as we found out one night as the "Rowdy couple" next door let us know all night how much they loved each other,, after that started staying at the Days Inn one exit this side of the I-20 bridge.

There is a young indian couple running it now and it is very clean. They will go out of their way to accommodate you. The restaurant is now a bar and grill called Chilly Willy's pretty good food, clean, but has a band on the weekends and it gets pretty loud. Fortunately all I had to do was remove my hearing aids, but some of the guys complained about the band being pretty loud.
