Hi everyone, happy to be hear. I'm taking my sons fishing tomorrow at the public area of Red Top Mtn St Park. We fish from the bank and don't really cast for bass. More, throw it out there and wait for a bite. We combine bottom fishing and floats with a variety of baits. Any suggestions on what might work best this time of year? I fished a lot growing up so I'm getting the kids interested. I'm not a novice, just rusty. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

WElcome to the forum, Glen. I will tell you that fishing from the bank on Allatoona right now could be a pretty good challenge. They are dropping the lake pretty hard (about a foot a day) trying to get it down to the winter pool (-17' from summer pool). That generally keeps the fish moving are pulling back from the bank. There will always be some fish in the shallows, just not in the numbers you would like. I would suggest maybe taking them to Lake Acworth to fish from the bank for probably better results -or- carefully walking the banks in the Red Top State Park on Allatoona, looking for lures that have been lost to the rocks over the past summer season. As of this morning the lake is a little over 10' low.
