Hello. I just recently moved to the area. However I grew up not to far away, fishing on Lay Lake in AL. My family and I have moved around the country a lot, but I am confident we are here to stay. I have been out of the fishing scene a while but I purchased a new bass boat last week and am ready to learn Allatoona. I fished "early" Saturday morning with my 12 year old son. I caught 2 spots on a buzz bait within 20 minutes of hitting the water. One was enough to fill a hot dog bun but the 2nd was about 2lbs. In 2 inches of water! And then.........nothing. We fished until about 10:30 and the boat traffic and heat took over. The lake is beautiful and I dig this forum. I will happily take any advice anyone has to offer. I have never fished tournaments but would love to give it a shot, with some good guidance of course.

Welcome to the Board Max. Bad time of the year to start fishing Toona as a first attempt. Right now a drop shot, shaky head, crank bait, or spoon would be the best. What kind of boat did you get?

Thanks for the info. I bought a Ranger Z175 with a Yamaha 115. 17.5ft boat....so it would fit in the garage.

Nice ride you bought. Good luck. As to allatoona there is no shortage of finding tournaments.

Welcome to Toona! Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures. Maybe when you get comfortable with the lake you can come up to Bartow County and fish some of tournaments out of Gatewood Boat ramp!
