Hey guys, So I am brand new to fishing and don't have a clue what I'm doing. That's part of the fun though right? I am currently bank bound, but hoping to get a fishing kayak soon. I've got an 8 and 6 year old who I would love to get into fishing, but we have had very little success so far and I'm worried if I can't get a fish on soon my kids are going to lose interest.
We went down olde rope mill river last weekend in a canoe and caught 2 fish, but I don't have consistent access to a canoe or kayak so this isn't always an option for us.
What are some great shore locations I can take the kids to where our chances of catching something (anything!) are reasonable. We live very close to Victoria harbor.

Welcome to the forum, you might try under the bridge at Kellogg Creek. Bring along some minnows or worms and put the kids on some of the pan fish and crappie that are around the bridge from time to time. Or their are quite a few trees cut down in that area that hold fish. Also try Galts Landing between the boat ramp and the beach there is a line of Christmas trees submerged that will hold fish. Good luck!
