First of all, Hello Y'all! Just found ya and I am looking forward to lots of reading!
Now for the part you might not believe.......I do 99% of my Bass fishing on Allatoona with flys. Yup, fly rod and reel...sub-surface and dry flys. And, from a bass boat!
So if you see a Bass Tracker with some nutty looking guy fly fishing, come on over and say hi!
Looking forward to meeting Y'all and hope to fish your tournament in November. (I might dust off the ol' Garcia's come October) Jephph (Jeff)

Welcome to the board! We don't discriminate against any rod types here (lol). There is nothing like fighting a fish with a fly rod. One of these days, I am going to get mine out of the attic. Then again, I should probably stick with one style and get good at it, but that could take some time (lol).
Welcome.

I can't wait to hear some of your fly rod reports. I was just talking to Shadowfax the other day about breaking out the fly rod, been a long time.
Welcome to the site!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Reading through posts has been fun and educational. I'm looking forward to reading and learning more. I was on the fly yesterday and did okay. I caught a couple of nice spots a couple of slabs of brim and a host of little brim. All with sub-surface flys like the Copper John. I am in the process of tying some heavier flys so I can move away from the shoreline a bit as the water drops and we lose shallow cover. (But I gotta say I LOVE sight casting to a marauding bass or one who thinks it can hide behind a stump!)
For me, a 2 pounder is nice and a 3 is great. After reading an article here about crawdads, my fishing buddy Chris dug one out from his tackle box that had been there unused for years and he nailed a 3+ spot and a 4+ largemouth before losing his one and only crawdad to....who knows what. That kinda got my juices flowing for going for the bigger fish. Both of his were in 4 feet of water 6 to 8 feet off the rip rap. (Chris has already stocked up on crawdads! lol)
Again, thanks for the kind welcome.
Jeff PS Watch out for wayward cabin cruisers!
