We just got our "new" boat a month ago (a used fish & ski) - hey it floats and the engine runs well. So far my son and I haven't had a bit of luck fishing Allatoona.
We live on a small (10 acre) lake with bass in it and usually do well fishing there. In fact my son caught a 28 inch large mouth out of it this summer.
Apparently we've still got a lot to learn about fishing Allatoona though. In the past three weekends we've fished three different parts of the lake and have netted zero. If anybody wants to offer up tips on hot spots and tactics I'm all ears (if you want to keep your secrets a secret PM me and I'll swear on a stack of bibles that we won't be entering any tournaments). Heck, I'll gladly fish for crappie if it means pulling fish out of the water ;D.

Welcome groundloop and son!
This is the place to learn about fishing Allatoona. I'd give you some advice but I'm just learning too.
I fished for years with no success from the bank and I just knew all I needed was a boat. I was wrong. Believe it or not I mainly (98%) fly fish. I started with dry flies and caught a TON of blue gill or bream. I have since started using sub surface flies and have started catching BASS!
Just a week or so ago I caught my first bass on a plastic worm thanks to WillioJr. He had me sink it to the bottom and slowly drag it, popping it off the bottom every so often. It worked!

Welcome Aboard GroundLoop! I could fish Allatoona all day long and about all I would catch is bream or a bad case of poison oak. Put me in the river though and fish up a storm. If you find where they're at, throw me a line. River
