I have a Motor Guide 71lb thrust motor that has lost the first and second speeds. Third through fifth work fine. I have checked all the wiring, the rotary knob and the prop for any problems and everything appears to be fine. I was told that the speed coils in the lower unit may be burned out. Is this a major fix? How would I go about fixing it?
NOTE: The motor is under warranty and only two months old.

I'm sure Anthony can give you a better response than mine but I think you just answered your question It's under warranty let MG fix it.

Killian had the same problem, less than a year on his. Not sure of the lb of his, but I wonder if there is a pattern?
