Anthony or anyone. I think there was a thread about this, but I cannot find it. Anyways, I have a 2006 Mercury 150 Optimax. When I went out today the motor ran just fine. I went from spot to spot fishing. ;D Then as I was leaving one area, as I pushed the throttle forward the motor bogged down / rpm lag and the alarm went off. I am sure this is a built in safety feature. I pulled the throttle back to idle and slowly tried it again, same thing. The good part it let me idle back to the dock, which wasn't very far. Right before I got back to the dock I tried to get up on plane one last time, this time everything worked fine, no throttle back / rpm lag. Water pressure was good. I did notice that the voltage gauge seemed to be a bit lower than normal, right at 12 volts, usually it’s higher. Should I have someone look at it or not? Any suggestions? Thanks Rich

You might want to check your alternator belt and make sure it is not stretched and if the motor sees less than 11.5 volts you will get a horn. Another thing is spark plugs could be fouled and need to be changed.

Thanks Anthony If the voltage is low would that cause the motor to rev limit on acceleration like it did today? I have had a funny feeling about the battery. Could this be a possible cause?
