Our family is heading up to Ocean Isle beach NC (north of Myrtle beach) on the 28th. We were planning on taking our project boat up there, as it should have been finished by then. Unfortunately, we have run into a delay, as we are having to rebuild the lower unit on a motor that parts are very hard to find for, and the motor has very little chance of being reassembled by that time.
My question is, and I am sure it is a long shot, does anyone have a 25 - 40 horse longshaft tiller engine that they would be willing to rent for a two week period? Obviously, it would be run in salt and brackish water, so the non coastal people probably wouldn't do this, but it would also be hosed down, and flushed daily, and run in freshwater everytime possible.
Or, does anyone have a good running Johnson or Evinrude 35 or 40 horse longshaft tiller engine for sale, as I am not sure that I want to sink the money into the one I have for a full lower unit rebuild?
Thanks,
bassboy1

Dude if your 15 years old as stated in your profile you already know more than I will ever know about fixing motors LOL.

Fixing it ain't the problem. ;D Getting the parts in time is. Once I obtain the parts, it will fit together just fine - lower units are fairly simple. Only problem is, we are leaving on the 28th, half the parts aren't made anymore, so finding them is tough, and I am not 100 percent sure that I want to sink the money into a 34 year old outboard.
I am hoping a deal will spring up on a bit newer one that has a lot less wear and abuse, in the next week, but that is going to take a lot of luck, more than anything else.

I'm sure you have already checked on craigslist right? Lots of decent motors on there bigguns and littleuns.
