hi Anthony, what kind of cleaner can i use to clean the bilge area[batteries, hoses. and pumps] on my boat that will not harm anything? i was thinking about some kind of foaming cleaner that i could just spray on and rinse off, any suggestions? thanks in advance oldfishinfool.

Go by Bay Marine , they have a cleaner just for this , I think it is called bilge cleaner , and all you do is pour it in and add a little water and go fishing , It cleans as you are running around , and then drain it out ( and yes it is environmentally friendly )

I would pour 2 or 3 gallons of water in the bilge and a table spoon or two of DAWN dish washing liquid in with the water and drive to the lake and go fishing and when you pull out at the end of the day, pull the plug and catch it in a bucket and dispose of it properly then rinse the bilge and you are done. All of the sloshing back and forth will clean it up fairly well.
