I have a 2003 Mercury Optimax 200. I keep having the main power relay blow out on me. It is the one that controls the oil pump, fuel pump, etc. If it helps further, it is located next to the two that control the power trim up and down. Any idea why this would be happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I just moved here from the land of 10,000 lakes and am looking for a good boat motor mechanic. I am in Kennesaw and would like to find someone fairly close by.

Make sure that your battery terminals are clean and tight. Also check your cold cranking amps (CCA) on your starting battery as well. You wan't the most you can get on these motors as they require alot of juice to start.

Thanks for your reply. I will double check those items. Another question to go along with this, would those issues cause the relay to go even after the engine has been running for some time? I have had it go out on me both when I had just started the motor and while the motor had been running for 30 - 45 minutes.
