what is my first step in getting repaired ? i removed prop and dont know what i'm looking at for sure. it is a 3 blade stainless steel turbo prop. what concerns me is back side of prop where it seats is gualded looking and so is piece left on shaft ?

The piece that is still there is your Thrust Washer. All you have to do is get you a large screw driver and pry it off. Take your prop to BAY MARINE and tell them I sent you there. They will send it off for you and have it repaired with a new hub or if it is a flo-torq hub they have them on the shelf.

thanks for reply anthony,when you have new hub installed does it come with new thrust washer? i'm already trying to get it up to precission propeller in buford. they told me if i bring it in afternoon they possibly would do while i wait. will they send me new thrust washer?

hey anthony, i did take it to bay and sent off will be back friday. they told me no need to remove thrust washer. is that true? and when installing prop what do i torque it at? before i removed it i counted two threads from back of nut to end of shaft. should i put it back there? sorry to ask so many ?. i know quiet abit about chevrolets if you ever have ? lol, but really i've been at days for going on nine years. thanks tim

Tim, I dont know the exact tourqe, But I get mine tight and back off say 1/4 turn to line hp the cotter pin hole. If you got the other thing a ma bob thet bends back the tabs I think you need to get at least 3 of them bent back to hold the nut.

I would put it at 60 Ft Lbs of torque. When you get it to there if the tabs do not line up go tighter to the next tab, Do not loosen it up as you will loose your torque and will be in the same boat you are in right now. No pun intended.... LOL

hey anthony, bay got my prop back and i'm going to get it now. do i need to remove the thrust washer and use die grinder with buffing pad to clean it up or will it be fine to just reinstall my prop. torque to 60lbs and go fishing ? thanks tim
