Right now the lake is 4ft low and falling and temps are in the mid 80's throughout the lake. Fishing is hit and miss in the morning and evening as of the last 2 trips. The only thing consistant is the daytime bite which is tough and deep. Topwater can be good on popping cork rigged on a long distance 11ft casting rod with a 2oz cork with a trailing doll fly to those schoolers that only come up for 5 seconds. But you gotta be quick and you gotta be accurate up to 80 yards with your casting. Of course if they are closer you can nab them with a well placed sammy. Today the topwater bite was non existant with this prefrontal weather this am. I am seeing some bigger fish following the swimbait but the littler fish believe it or not are getting in the way of things. During midday the dropshot bite is the best thing that I have going consistancy wise. I'm working long points as well as deep brush in the 18-24ft range. Most of my fish are 20ft +.
Here is one brushpile that has been fairly consistant. Do keep in mind that if you catch 2 fish out of a brushpile your doing pretty good. Most of the time it's a one fish deal. I have caught up to as many as 10 fish out of a brushpile but thats very rare.
This GPS location is actually of a sunken bridge in clear creek. IT has lots of boulders and christmas trees and a sharp drop right off the edge of the old bridge bulkhead. At low pool in the winter time you can see alot of what is down there including the top of the bulkhead. IT's actually very close to the bouy that you see but maybe another 20 yards further into the creek. Lots of nasty things in there for a spot to relate to. Great place to dropshot.
