Water Temp 73 Clarity Clear to slightly stained Water Level: full pool
The topwater bite is starting to pick up. I tried some different areas and ran into 2 decent schools of hybrids/stripers/spots busting on top. Caught about 15 fish on top and they were a mixture of all 3 species all on Sammy 100. I'm hoping this pattern will get stronger into next week. After the initial topwater the wind picked up and I caught a handful on spinnerbaits and Flashminnow 95MR's on windblown points and pockets. I really think they are trying to get into that post spawn schooling mode. How strong it will get remains to be seen. Cover water at first light to known post spawn locations and see if you can find shad on your graph or shad cruising out in the main lake and it always helps if you see fish busting on top. But by cruising the main lake at first light you put yourself at risk of missing any pre sunrise bite by driving around but once you find them you can get an hour or so worth of topwater frenzy in.
GOod luck out there.
