Sorry for the lack of reports lately. Been busy fishing and doing family stuff.
Water Clarity :Clear
Water Level 10.23ft low
Water Temp 58-62
Well what can I say about the fishing right now?? You gotta really work right now to find the active fish. This has not been our typical fall based on my history for the past several years. Seems like we went straight from Summer directly to Winter patterns. The past few days I have tried the typical fall stuff that normally works in the fall and uh it ain't working. So I threw the notebook in the trash and started the process of elimination. Couldn't get the shallow and I couldn't get them working the banks. Catching them suspended worked some but the most reliable bite for QUALITY fish is offshore and DEEP (atleast for me).
Monday and Tuesday I personally got over 15 fish. Not one of them was shallower than 30ft. But most of them were closer to 40ft in fact I caught 3 largemouth (see two pictured) out of 40ft of water that I had to pop their air bladder to get them to swim off. Go figure. Definitely not normal for heads to be 40ft deep in 60 degree water but thats where I am finding them and it's still not an easy bite to follow. After two days I'm still rotating through other things to make sure I have found the best bite.
I did manage to get about a 25lb flat head boatside before she tore off. I couldn't fit her in my net so she shook her head once and got unhooked. I thought I hooked Lucy again in the tail
.
Right now I am rotating between a 1oz, 3/4 and 1/2 oz spoon. Spoon size seems to be crucial right now. If you get too many window shoppers on your spoon change out your spoon size and you should get bit. I am relying HEAVILY on my side imaging to find these untapped schools of fish. There is alot of areas holding bait but not all of them are holding fish. The SI is helping a TON in knowing when to put the T motor down and when not to.
Heres some fish candy below.
