Hi there, I am from NY and living in Georgia for the winter/spring and have never fished for spots. I am heading out for some shore fishing this week as my boat is all packed up for the winter back home in NY and was wondering what I should be looking for and what I might throw. I was planning on just looking at it like I was smallmouth fishing - you think this will work?

Oh yeah, I live about 10 minutes from Allatoona so that was where I was planning on going.

anglingsm- I've just about always fished Toona the bank and a carolina rig with a watermelon seed trick worm or finnesse worm always catchs something.

I will give that a shot. We hardly ever use a Carolina rig up north.

SInce alot of rednecks fish the banks too try to avoid things you get at WALMART i.e. spinnerbaits and t-rigged worms. Every single kid that I talk to at school uses a spinerbait or texas rig on toona. Even though they get a zero they still use it. What I'm say'n is use things that the fish don't see. It took me a while to understand this cause every time someone caught fish , I would ask "what were ya using and how where ya workin it?"
BE DIFFERENT. If every one is using a 4in finnesse worm us a 10in ole monster worm. Use a crank bait that has no rattles in it since most these days have rattles in them. This is kinda the reason I started to fish swimbaits over the c-rig. Not many people have the balls to throw a 8in Huddleston deluxe. U will not get numbers and it might take 3or 4 trips to get the "1" but she will be worth it!
