Fished JW Smith today and too bad it's the last day that it will open this year...oh well I'll be back on the toona next week!
Fishing was great! I didn't get started until about 12 noon but it didn't matter. I saw activity on top and began throwing the sammy with no results. I down sized to a smaller top water and picked up a 2.5 pounder. I then went to a cove and I knew the fish were there because of the bait fish I saw... but they weren't hitting on top like they were the week before. I figured they wanted me to fish below the suface so I did with the infamous worm. Glad I did!!! This was the trick today because I began catching a fish every 20 minutes and they all were 3lbs. and above. The fish in the pic. was the big fish that I landed today on 4lb. test ...Ha, ha, ha!!!! What you really won't believe is that I had another fish at the boat that was easily 2 or 3 lbs. larger than this one but he gently inhaled the lure and ran toward the boat. Of course I never got a good hook set on him and when I reached down with the net I accidently eased up on the tension and he simply wiggled off right in front of me. This was certainly a big fish day for me and If I were to take a guess of my best 5 it would have probably been close to 20lbs. Wowwwwwww what a great day!!!
Of course of all days I left my camera at home so I had to take a picture with my cell phone (sorry). I guess it was better than no pic. at all.
Just curious... I didn't have my scale today (left it in the other boat) but I was wondering if one were to guess... about how many pounds is this fish?
