I just found this forum and hope this is the right category for posting this question: I have an older (1985) Evinrude V4 115hp on my boat. Boat and motor were bought as a project 3 years ago and have come a long way. Motor runs fine from 1200rpm to WOT ( around 5100rpm) but runs rough at idle and isn't "happy" idling below 1000-1100 rpm. I have fiddled with it trying to improve low rpm performance but have not yet been able to figure out the key(s) to successfully doing this. Note that this motor started life as a VRO but had been converted back to using premixed gas before I bought it. Can anyone recommend someone in the Allatoona area (or even south to Marietta) who knows his [older] v4 OMC's and who could try to fine tune my motor or troubleshoot the problem?
Thanks, please post here or email me direct at cacrowley@georgialaw.org

Try Anthony (5 bass limit). He is in Acworth and does a great Job. I believe this is his #770-778-5559

Welcome to the forum!
Without knowing more, my guess on your engine is that the low speed jets in at least on cyl. are clogged, at least partially. When you did work on the engine, were the carbs rebuilt? Also, when operating the motor in the water, push the key in to engage the choke/primer. That will force a little more fuel through the carbs. If the RPMs rise, even just a little, the chances are the low speed jets are clogged, thus the carbs need to be cleaned, and rebuilt.
Check your PM inbox. I just sent you one.
